Pretty Sure this is the Best Festival Ever!!!

The Winter Music Conference attracts dance music's finest to Miami ever year and will do so again this year. Alongside the WMC seems a great time to run one of the biggest and greatest dance music festivals in the world. Ultra Music Festival is gonna be awesome make sure you check the line up here.

Headliners as diverse as Deadmau5 to Bookashade and Tiesto to The Prodigy it looks set to be the biggest festival in dance music this year. A whole lot cheaper than that of UK's Global Gathering and Creamfields at $129.95 roughly £90 it is a occasion that cannot be missed.

I toyed with the idea of venturing to the States for this one but will have to put it on hold to maybe next year. Along with Ibiza this is becoming a must on clubbers calendars and there is a number of reasons why. My personal highlight looks to be the Amnesia Ibiza stage featuring the Swedish House Mafia, Tiga, Dirty South and many of my other favourite DJ's.

However the line up is great and you can expect to get the first taste of the greatest music and DJ's with enough there to fit any type of dance music that you like.

I just wish I could say see you there :-(

A Bit Minimal

Just to point out a night that will make minimalists very happy. March the 7th at Fabric sees Radio Slave and Johnny D line up in night that could well be one of the best in March. Any dance music fan will know how big Radio Slave's Grindhouse tune was last year and there will be much more to come from him at the set at Fabric. Also minimalists will be noticing heads turning in the direction of Johnny D, a German born deep minimal house DJ who is making a huge name for himself at the moment and is sure to be one of the stars at the Winter Music Conference in Miami this March.

It matters...

Matter have been working hard to get some great names lined up for the next few months at their Greenwich based superclub. If you haven't already been be sure to get there asap. Not only are the DJ's attracted starting to better but the venue itself is great with electronic coat check system, lights to rival anywhere in London and subs built into the floor so you can really feel the base.

Check here for the line up in full. Highlights look set to be the Cocoon night, Bookashade (live) and the amazing light show that is Ettiene de Crecy.

Etienne De Crecy (live)

Gui Returns to Take My Breath Away

Groundbreaking Brazilian minimal pioneer Gui Boratto is back with his follow up to his first sensational album Chromophobia. His long awaited second album doesn't hesitate to deliver a dose of minimal that the tech minimal crowd have craved. Azzura steals the show with its soft, tuneful breakdowns and loops. Atomic Soda is more what you expect to hit the likes of Cocoon club anytime soon; with its wooden bass and twisted sound. Ballroom is also a great track with funky beat and electric sound. Hot right now and probably my favourite is No Turning Back just well made and nicely progressive. Be sure to give the whole album a chance by clicking here to listen on beatport.com

Great work Gui...

Current Beatport Top 10

Here is the Current Electro House top 10 according to beatport.com (electronic music number 1 download site)

#1 The Intro - Miles Dyson
#2 The People - Sebastien Leger
#3 Play With It (Gigi Barrocco) - Breakdown
#4 Miami to Atlanta - Pryda
#5 The People (Eric Prydz Remix)- Sebastien Leger
#6 Loaded -Pryda
#7 Animal -Pryda
#8 Flashback - Wolfgang Gartner
#9 Falling Anthem (Herve Remix)- Bad Boy Bill
#10 Community Funk (Deadmau5 Remix) - Carbon Community and Burufunk

Pryda is killing it at the moment with 3 songs in the top 10. I personally think that Miles Dyson's Intro is awesome, filthy bass line and its starting to get dropped in clubs now with a good following too. It's good fun and different but the drop is as good as any.

Gigi Barocco gives a good dose of fidget house if that is what your into as does Herve's remix of Falling Anthem by Canada's Bad Boy Bill.

Of the Pryda tunes Miami to Atlanta is the best a very catchy progressive tune. Eric Prydz under his alias of Pryda is sure doing well. Making a huge impact in electro under both names. When up and running Animal is good, but a slow progression really and repeats itself.

Please click the links above to check out a sound clip of each of the songs. Let me in on your feedback too.

The Weekend is Approaching

As the weekend comes round again here is detailed info about my pick of the weekend if you fancy a night out.

Saturday 21st February
11pm to 7am - £15 advance/£6 after 4am - Click here for tickets

A fairly quiet weekend on the clubbing scene which is still suffering from the loss of The End, the perfect club for many Electro, Tech and Drum and Bass fans. The remaining clubs are stepping things up and trying to fill in the void left by The End. However the pick of the weekend is Saturday at Ministry of Sound with the always reliable Toolroom Knights featuring melodic maestro Mark Knight, sleazy like you never seen before Benny Benassi and the funky and jacking Dave Spoon amongst others this will be a top night offering the best music with the crowd the only problem ever encountered at Ministry.

Global Gathering Headliners

As the festival season creeps up on us unnoticed due to the poor recent weather, Global Gathering look to uplift spirits by releasing their headliners for this years festival. They are;

However, I feel that they have done the opposite with the names that have been announced. OK, Prodigy and Pendulum are OK but for the many numbers of people like me that love electro and tech they aren't going to be the highlight of the festival. Orbital have been off the scene for far too long and in my opinion I never felt they were good when they were. Prodigy headlined last years Gatecrasher which was good but I feel GG as the biggest dance festival in the world need to be doing a lot better. Pendulum also played at Gatecrasher last year and were not even headliners. I hope that there are more headliners besides these to be confirmed because at the moment Global Gathering is not on my agenda.

Let me know your feedback.
